Judgment Modifications

Experienced Texas Family Law Attorney

Helping You Seek Modifications to Existing Family-Related Orders

Texas family law courts understand that things change in people's lives. It is unrealistic to expect divorce and child custody judgments to remain the same year after year. People lose their jobs. Financial and living circumstances change. People need to move away. Remarriages happen. That is why the courts make provisions to modify child custody, support and alimony arrangements when circumstances warrant.

I am Texas family law and child custody lawyer Anthony W. Hernandez. If you need a modification of your parenting time or custody matter, contact my office in Houston. For more than 20 years, I have helped people resolve their modification needs.

What do the courts take into consideration for a modification? If you are paying child support and your financial condition changes because of a job loss, you may seek a temporary or permanent modification of your monthly amount, but the Texas child support formula will still apply. If you are the custodial parent and the non-custodial parent increases earnings dramatically, you may also seek an increase in your child support or spousal support award.

I am ready to help you with all modification matters, including:

  • Modifications of child custody and visitation schedules
  • Changes in child support orders and Attorney General hearings
  • Move-aways and custodial parent relocation petitions
  • Modifications of spousal support, alimony changes

Modifying your divorce property settlements

Generally, property settlements can only be modified if one party can show that the settlement was not handled correctly in the first place. Appealing a property judgment requires an attorney with experience and understanding of complex family law and property issues. I have been advising and representing individuals in all divorce and family law matters for more than 20 years.
